Max is a conservation and community development specialist based in Arusha, Tanzania. With a background in Geography and currently pursuing an MBA at the African Leadership University, he brings a leadership approach grounded in sustainability, business thinking, and ethical tourism. His experience focuses on supporting Tanzania’s community-managed conservation areas known as Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs), to operate more effectively as social enterprises that deliver meaningful benefits for both people and wildlife. Over the years, Max has worked closely with the local community in these areas to strengthen financial systems, improve accountability, and ensure that tourism revenues are well-managed and equitably shared with the communities who live alongside wildlife. At Wild & Sand Travels, Max brings this experience directly into the heart of the business, ensuring that the company operates as a sustainable tourism enterprise, where conservation outcomes and community benefits are not just values, but part of the business model.
